You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler (MVO) ~ without more than normal supervision. - Receiving, storing, and issuing a variety of materials, supplies, and equipment; maintaining property book accountability; and operating different types of motor vehicles. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Physical Effort: Work is performed on hard surfaces for extended periods of time that require standing, stooping, bending, walking, pulling, pushing, kneeling and working in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and moves items weighing up to 40 pounds with occasional requirements exceeding 50 pounds. Heavier items are moved with approved lifting devices and or weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
- Working Conditions: Work is performed indoors and out door areas. Inside environments are well lighted, heated and ventilated areas. Outside work may be performed in hot, cold, damp, poorly lighted and drafty conditions. Incumbent may be exposed to potential falls, cuts, scrapes, bruises abrasions and possible injury. Work performed in warehouse environment is subject to injuries from falling stock, handling materials, hazardous materials and mechanized equipment. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as gloves, hard hats, aprons, approved safety glasses and steel toe shoes.
