Conditions of employment
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Government Driver's License.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Applicants tentatively selected will participate in drug urinalysis testing, unless currently occupying a TDP within the Department of War.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
- This position has a TDY or business travel requirement of 10% of the time to various locations. This may require travel on military aircraft, ships, and vehicles.
- This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings,
weekends and/or holidays.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler (Motor Vehicle Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision.
To meet the screen out element applicants should document experience in the following: receiving and unloading shipments; checking items against basic documentation; moving materials using hand trucks or forklifts; organizing items for storage; and assisting with loading and securing cargo. I can enter or update basic inventory location information in the Joint Army Medical Management Information System or similar systems; follow established procedures for storing and issuing materials; and perform routine operator checks on vehicles. I report discrepancies or damaged items to appropriate personnel. I work under normal supervision, where tasks are reviewed during progress or upon completion to ensure proper performance. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- PHYSICAL EFFORT/REQUIREMENTS: Work requires standing, bending, walking, stooping, lifting, and carrying items weighing up to 60-70 pounds. Receives assistance from other materials handlers when moving items over 70 pounds.
- WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside in areas which may be hot, cold , or drafty. Occasionally exposed to bad weather conditions and possible injury from falling or dropped stock when loading or unloading vehicles.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
