Summary

About the Position: The position is within Army Health Clinic Kenner, DIR of Clinical Support, Dept. of Radiology, duty location Fort Gregg-Adams Virginia. This position is not eligible for telework or remote work.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

  • Ensures the overall quality and operating efficiency of the Ultrasound Services.
  • Performs complex diagnostic ultrasound examinations/procedures utilizing two-dimensional, three-dimensional, four-dimensional, flex view, color and pulsed Doppler.
  • Establishes and reviews operating instructions for ultrasound procedures in accordance with the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine (AIUM) and Joint Commission standards.
  • Reviews and prioritizes requests for ultrasound imaging.
  • Performs daily quality control checks of the ultrasound machines.
  • Maintains the Quality Assurance (QA) program for the section, including coordinating periodic inspections to be performed by the medical physician.
  • Attends in-service training to stay up to date on new sonographic procedures, technology, and techniques.

  • Tuberculosis (TB): This position requires the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing.
  • Inclement Weather Essential: Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • Lifting: Lifting up to 15 pounds may be required.
  • Mission Essential: In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Physical: This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Preferred but not required - Graduate AMA Approved School of Radiological Technology with minimum of 1 year of intense experience as registered diagnostic medical ultra sonographer (ROMS)

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes performing a wide variety of ultrasound examinations on human patients; setting up, adjusting, operating or maintaining ultrasound and diagnostic equipment; and assisting providers in reading or evaluating ultrasound results.

OR

Education: Successful completion of one and a half years (i.e., 27 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Radiology. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages
