In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. This Position can be filled at the GS-04. GS-05, or GS-06 level with grade level with career ladder promotion to the GS-06 grade level. Duties described reflect the full performance GS-06 level. Duties performed in a developmental capacity will be under close supervision.
Management may select at any grade with the full performance being at the GS-04 level
For the GS-04:
General and/or Specialized Experience: Six months of general experience (1) in any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with any type of work that demonstrates my ability to perform the work of the position or experience that provided a familiarity with performing cleaning or sterilization duties in a medical clinic/hospital, or experience that provided a familiarity with other public setting where diseases and infections may be transmitted AND six months of experience which includes performing various aseptic cleaning procedures to decontaminate medical supply items. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-03).

Education: Two years of education above the high school level.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 60. Add the two percentages.
For the GS-05:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes retrieving medical supplies for patient care use OR preparing medical supplies for distribution throughout a medical facility OR sterilizing medical/surgical equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
For the GS-06:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes determining the best sterilization method to utilize in the sterilization of medical/surgical supplies or equipment and utilizing an electronic system to track the sterilization status of medical/surgical supplies or equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
OR
Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as such as microbiology, health care administration, hospital management, biomedical engineering, sanitary science, and engineering.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages.
