Duties
Major Duties:
A. Ability to collaborate and communicate with a wide range of medical clinicals across multiple disciplines (e.g., medical doctors, nurse practitioners, physicians' assistants, psychologists, psychiatrist, social works, clinical pharmacists, and nursing staff) to accomplish team goal setting to ensure medical care to patient is met
B. Ability to independently set priorities and organize work to meet deadlines ensuring compliance with established processes, policies, and regulations. C. Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively, electronically, by phone, in person, and in writing, with internal and external customers. This may include preparing reports in various formats and presenting data to various organizational levels as well as resolving patient concerns.
D. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology due to the technical nature of language utilized by clinicians
E. Advanced knowledge of the technical health care process including, but not limited to, scheduling across interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery and/or care in the community models and patient health care portals as it relates to access to care
F. Advanced knowledge of policies and procedures associated with interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery and/or care in the community operational activities that affect patient flow, and patient support care administrative functions to include, but not limited to appointment cycles, outside patient referrals, follow-up care, overbooking, provider availability, etc.
G. Ability to utilize numerous advanced patient systems in support of multiple clinics in an interdisciplinary setting.
H. Ability to use multiple technical applications
I. Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively, by phone, in person and in writing with internal (at varying grade levels) and external customers. This may include preparing reports in various formats and presenting data to various organizational levels, as well as resolving patient concerns.
J. Ability to identify customer's concerns, performs the task required to resolve the issue accurately and timely and follow- up as necessary to ensure a satisfactory resolution.
K. Ability to coordinate with other staff in trouble shooting equipment and technical issues
L. Independently utilizes reference sources, decision making and empowering the team to collaborate and resolve problems with a complex systems environment
M. Ability to maintain supplies and working conditions of the office
N. Ability to keep resource materials (both paper and electronic) up to date and available to staff
O. Ability to use computer keyboard, mouse, multiple screens, and multiple computers at one time
P. Ability to use a telephone: place calls, answer calls, place calls on hold, park calls, transfer calls, conference call.
Q. Ability to meet the physical demands: moving head and neck left/right, and up and down, sitting for extended periods of time at a workstation, standing static at a workstation, for extended periods of time, wrists turning ( locking/unlocking doorknobs- COR is locked area due to extended time outs), functional hearing, (normal , corrected), and functional speech
R. Ability to meet mental demands: problem solving, technical troubleshooting, decision making, interpreting data, organizing, read and write English, ability to communicate effectively in English, deal with emergency and time sensitive situations on an ongoing basis, frequently sustain concentration , requires precise attention to details, hurried pace of work activities, attention divided between issues requiring multi-tasking, handle situations requiring judgment and adaptation of operational policies and procedures, able to perform under circumstances of emotional stress, negotiate , motivate , redirect and convince others, make quick and accurate decisions, evaluate, or make decisions based on experience and/or knowledge.
S. Ability to perform in certain working conditions: working alternating shifts ( day, evening, night, and weekends), work complete shifts ( 8, 10 or 12 hours), limited opportunities for breaks, may need to postpone planned breaks , able to train other , able to demonstrate functionality of system
T. Ability to perform in certain environmental demands: work inside, work closely with others over audio visual connection, work in close proximity to others, work alone , work below ground or in a space with windows (basement), work in a fixed post assignment ( in case of a disaster or emergency may not leave without having replacement employee available to cover), participate in emergency/natural disaster response call pool.
Work Schedule: Days/Nights/w/ every other weekend and occ holidays

HCP are individuals who, during the influenza season, work in VHA locations or who come into contact with VA patients or other HCP as part of their duties. VHA locations include, but are not limited to, VA hospitals and associated clinics, community living centers (CLCs), community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs), domiciliary units, Vet centers and VA-leased medical facilities. HCP include all VA licensed and unlicensed, clinical and administrative, remote and onsite, paid and without compensation, full- and part-time employees, intermittent employees, fee basis employees, VA contractors, researchers, volunteers and health professions trainees (HPTs) who are expected to perform any or all of their work at these facilities. HPTs may be paid or unpaid and include residents, interns, fellows and students. HCP also includes VHA personnel providing home-based care to Veterans and drivers and other personnel whose duties put them in contact with patients outside VA medical facilities.
