Summary

The Membership Manager will report to the Head of Audience Development in the Visitor Experience department and will collaborate with many stakeholders across the National Gallery, including but not limited to development, communications, digital experience, retail, dining, and other departments as needed.

Duties

As the Membership Manager, you will:

  • Supports stewardship of donations under $1,500 associated with the National Membership program and operations onsite. Designs and implements a membership communications strategy that incorporates personalization, primary institutional messages, and audience growth priorities. Ensures completion of day-to-day administrative operations, including customer service, benefits fulfillment, database management, production of marketing materials, and other tasks related to National Membership and donations below $1,500 as needed.
  • Plans and implements the National Membership program as part of overall audience development and fundraising efforts within the National Gallery of Art. Grows the National Membership program with focus on reaching audiences in the DMV area and nationally. Develops engagement and fundraising activities, including solicitations and renewals, member events, and other special appeals and activities. Creates compelling content for engagement and fundraising campaigns, including emails, onsite and online advertising, and other marketing/fundraising materials related to National Membership. Analyzes data from membership-related platforms including CRM, email, and website in order to report on engagement and improve operations.

Specialized Experience Statement: 

Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-09 level in the Federal service, implementing member and donation programs for a museum or cultural institution.

OR

a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

OR

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

OR

LL.M., if related

OR

Combination of Education and Experience as indicated in the Group Qualification Standard for Administrative & Management Positions
