Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA is searching for a Military Personnel Liaison for 533 TRS (NH-0301-02, GS-05/11 equivalent).
Description:
We are the home of initial skills training for the entire United States Space Force enlisted corps!
Every 8 weeks a new group of motivated enlisted Guardians space professionals arrive at the 533d Training Squadron, ready to start their journey into the space domain!
In this position, YOU are their support team! You will onboard the new trainees, making sure their military records are accurate so they start their military career with accurate personnel files. You then assist with a full line of updates, inquiries, and processing actions through the military personnel data systems. Lastly you process their change of station travel orders to send them to their first duty station upon graduation.
Without your vital role, trainees don't start training and they don't graduate to the operational Space Force.
You will have an impact on the next generation of military space professionals and how prepared they are to dominate in the space domain.
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate possess military personnel experience in the USAF, equivalent experience from other military branchs, USAF civilian Unit Personnel Coordinator experience, or formal human resource management training/work experience from the civilian sector.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Have basic knowledge and skills to apply standardized body of personnel rules, regulations, procedures, and precedents to mission requirements.
2. Knowledge of coding for personnel records using the automated personnel system.
3. Skills receiving personnel action requests and reconciling with guidance, and developing supporting courses of action.
4. Skill entering and retrieving personnel action data, and correcting data errors in data systems.
5. Knowledge of extensive rules, procedures, and operations as applied to the Headquarters Task Management Tool (TMT).
6. Knowledge of secretarial and clerical assignments to perform the procedural and administrative work of the office, such as preparing and editing documents, maintaining files/records, making and preparing travel arrangements, composing various reports, inquiries, and technical correspondence.
7. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
8. Knowledge of customer support principles sufficient to receive, respond to, and ensure complete resolution of problems the ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of an organization.
9. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships.
10. Ability to input, store, retrieve data and perform quality review of data elements in data systems.

- Must be a U.S Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Safeguards classified or sensitive budget-related information and/or files.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
- Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and OPM prescribed “Unscheduled Telework”.
- This position will close after 5 business days or 75 applications, whichever comes first.
- Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
- PCS / relocation funding is not authorized.
- Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): Approximately 15 days per year.
