Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Motor Vehicle Operator without more than normal supervision. Applicants must meet the screen out element to be considered further. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: operate a school bus safely to include detecting school bus mechanical problems; assisting children safety into and out of a bus to include operating a wheelchair lift and transporting to and from a school - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

- Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) and Ability to Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle)
- Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation)
- Operation of Motor Vehicles
- Reliability and Dependability
- Work Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order)
- Physical Efforts: Incumbent exerts light physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls. Must be able to lift a child typically 50 pounds or less should that be necessary. Occasionally uses heavy powered cleaning equipment. Exerts moderately heavy physical effort such as continuous standing, bending, stooping, and reaching. Works on ladders and scaffolding in the performance of some duties.
- Working Conditions: Incumbent operates vehicle in all kinds of weather in a controlled traffic environment throughout a government installation, and also in heavy traffic at highway speeds. May be subject to injury as a result of accidents while driving or when loading and unloading vehicles. Is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents while driving at highway speeds. Custodial and Laborer tasks are usually performed indoors in areas which are adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. Exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritation from strong cleaning solutions. Care must be taken to avoid serious injury when working on ladders and scaffolding or when using heavy powered equipment.
