Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note:
A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
The
Motor Vehicle Operator must be in good physical condition when performing driving and related services, particularly, when driving for extended periods of time and distance. The Motor vehicle Operator must be vigilant and alert to cope with adverse traffic and weather conditions. Requires drivers to exert physical, operating, turning, backing, and controlling vehicles which carry heavier loads or LARGE NUMBERS OF PEOPLE/PATIENTS.
Light physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls. Moderate physical effort in the
frequent handling of objects in excess of 50 pounds. Considerable physical efforts may be required to change tires, make limited emergency repairs, such as installing an emergency fan belt or replacing an electrical fuse on open highways and first echelon maintenances.
Patient transport vehicle driver must be able to assist patients into and out of the vehicle, which involves physical exertion and frequent stooping, bending, and lifting of patients.
Driver must also be able to load and assist wheelchair patients, often with no assistance.
The Motor Vehicle Operator drives in all types of traffic and weather conditions, and is exposed to potentially hazardous situations and serious accidents.
Employee works mostly outside, is exposed to dirt and fumes, and to the possibility of cuts and bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle. Operates vehicle in all types of traffic and weather on public roads (or the equivalent), and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents. Employee will drive in heavy urban to rural traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems.
