Summary
This position is with Child and Youth Services at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.

This is a Regular Part-Time position with a minimum work week of 20 hours and eligible for benefits.
$1000 retention bonus paid after 6 months of employment.

Clarification from the agency
U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.
Duties
- Ensures the safety and well-being of children, youth and adults being transported to and from the program and on field trips. Knowledge of how to properly load and unload passengers. Skill in selecting the shortest and safest route.
- Ensures children and youth know how to safely evacuate the bus. Practices bus evacuation following prescribed procedures with children and youth on a monthly basis.
- Knowledge of height, weight, width, and length of passenger shuttle vans, and cargo vans in order to judge overhead and side clearances, turning radius and braking distance.
- Work requires walking, lifting and carrying items weighing 40 pounds or less, driving, bending and stooping. Drives outside in all kinds of weather in a controlled traffic environment throughout a military installation.
- Arranges for and ensures completion of routine maintenance of bus (e.g., oil change) transporting the bus to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities.
Conditions of Employment
- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-15.m., and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation is required.
- Schedule includes irregular hours, evenings, and/or weekends.
- Duties involve working both indoors and outdoors under different types of weather conditions.
- This position requires mandatory drug testing.
- The physical ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs., walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis is required.
- The appropriate driver’s license must be valid and current.
- Must be 18 years of age or older at time of appointment or placement into the position.
- Proof of education is required at the time of application.
- Good mental and physical health, freedom from communicable disease (verified through physical examination). Immunizations must be current including annual influenza vaccinations.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
- Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner.
- Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job.
- Requires a commercial drivers license (CDL) with no restrictions to operate a passenger vehicle that carries 16 or more.
Education
High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
The state of Washington requires endorsements CDL (P) = Passenger and (S) = School bus endorsements to legally transport children and youth in school buses. Applicants must submit a CDL with applicable endorsements to be found eligible.
