Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Motor Vehicle Operator (FLO) without more than normal supervision. The ability to perform common duties which include, 1. maintaining records and documents such as complete trip tickets, preventative maintenance records, operator inspection checklists/forms and accident/incident reports; 2. Utilizing forklifts to load, unload, separate, stack, and carry materials; 3. Performs drivers maintenance in accordance with established rules and regulations 4. loading cargo to prevent shifting or falling off vehicle; and 5. reading maps to determine the most effective routes. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.ng.
- Physical Efforts: WG-08 drivers have the same physical effort described at the WG-07 level (reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls plus considerable effort to change a tire or make limited emergency repairs to include more physical effort for maneuvering/backing up long and heavy vehicles). The factor on the PD describes the same elements. This factor is fully met and is credited at WG-07.
- Working Conditions: Working conditions: WG-08 drivers have the same working conditions as WG-05 drivers (working mostly outside, operating vehicles on public roads in heavy traffic at highway speeds in all kinds of weather with exposure to dirt and fumes, possibility of cuts, bruises or broken bones due to accidents or when loading/unloading vehicles). The factor on the PD describes the same elements. This factor is fully met and credited at WG-07.
