Summary

You will serve as a Nondestructive Test Inspector Supervisor I in the Nondestructive Test Division of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

  • You will supervise, direct, and coordinate nondestructive test inspection operations for nondestructive test inspectors and leaders.
  • You will enforce fire, safety, and good housekeeping regulations.
  • You will ensure that facilities, equipment, tools, and materials are properly used, stored, and maintained in order to support inspection work.
  • You will conduct daily job site reviews and provide surveillance of in-process inspection operations.
  • You will review technical work documents and nondestructive test inspection procedures prior to final acceptance to ensure conformance.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

* Conducting daily job site reviews and providing surveillance of in-process inspection operations.
* Planning and coordinating nuclear and non nuclear work assignments within the section on an immediate and long term basis in accordance with established schedule requirements.
* Reviewing technical work documents and Nondestructive Test inspection procedures prior to final acceptance of product.
* Supervising, directing and coordinating Nondestructive Test inspection operations for Nondestructive Test inspectors and leaders.
* Ensuring new technology and lessons learned are incorporated into the processes of the Nondestructive Test Division.
