Natural Resources Program Manager
Location: Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument
Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Natural Resources Program Manager to join our team at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. This role involves managing natural resources, conducting surveys, and collaborating on park planning efforts. This is a term position lasting more than a year with the potential to extend based on changes in regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain sampling, monitoring, and recording equipment.
- Conduct surveys of historic abandoned mine features including adits and shafts.
- Review and contribute to park planning, management, and interpretive efforts.
- Develop and coordinate work groups for natural resource site mitigation and restoration.
- Utilize Global Positioning System (GPS) for site documentation.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- A background investigation with favorable adjudication is required.
- Valid driver's license required; must provide driving record.
- Occupancy of government quarters may be available.
- Willingness to travel overnight up to 2 nights per month.
- Compliance with Selective Service Registration Act is necessary for males.
- Participation in Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- Complete a one-year trial period.
Qualifications
- Education: A degree in biological sciences, natural resource management, or physical sciences, or a combination of education and experience. Must submit transcripts.
- Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-07 level. Skills in leading work crews, assessing infrastructure, and technical report preparation are essential.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience is considered.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The role may require strenuous physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting heavy objects, often in hazardous terrains and varying weather conditions. Work is both indoors and outdoors.
