Summary

Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! Naval Station Everett's Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department, Child and Youth Programs (CYP) and the Food & Beverage Program-will be hosting a direct hiring event on October 16, 2026, from 1000-1300 at the Smokey Point Naval Support Complex Building 13910 (45th Ave NE, Marysville, WA 98271).

Duties

We are actively seeking qualified candidates to fill the following positions.

  • Child & Youth Program Assistant: Assists in providing developmental care, activities, and instruction for children in CDC, SAC, or Youth Programs.

  • Child & Youth Program Leader: Mentors program assistants, designs developmental curriculums, and coordinates daily youth program scheduling.

  • Food & Beverage Manager: Oversees daily facility operations, manages inventory, ensures safety compliance, and supervises kitchen staff.

  • Short Order Cook / Food Service Worker: Prepares, cooks, and serves food rapidly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining sanitation standards.

  • Lifeguard / Water Safety Instructor: Monitors aquatic areas, ensures patron safety, performs rescues, and delivers swim instruction.

  • Recreation Specialist (Community Rec Programmer): Directs special events, trips, and tournaments; manages program metrics, budgets (NAF/APF), and social media campaigns; coordinates community partnerships; and leads/trains recreation staff.

  • Recreation Assistant (Community Rec): Informs patrons on activities, manages gear rentals/inventories, handles cash handling/POS sales, assists with event setup/breakdown, and supports local outdoor recreation programs.

  • Recreation Assistant: Conducts basic fitness orientations, monitors athletic/intramural events, coordinates facility set-up/clean-up, performs minor equipment repairs, and assists with front-desk POS operations.

  • Operations Assistant: Supports management in food operations, coordinates employee scheduling, performs monthly inventories, maintains records, and oversees shift safety and problem resolution.

  • Custodial Worker: Maintains facility cleanliness and performs routine custodial duties to ensure a safe, hygienic environment.

  • Pass all applicable records and background checks.
  • (Dependent on position) Undergo pre-employment and random drug testing. A positive drug test, or failure to submit for testing, is a basis for removal from this position.
  • (Dependent on position) Pass a pre-employment physical, provide evidence of immunization, be free of all communicable diseases, and obtain appropriate immunization against communicable diseases.
  • (Dependent on position) Employment contingent upon proof of education if not provided at time of application.
  • Marijuana is a Schedule I drug under the Controlled Substances Act and therefore use of marijuana is illegal under Federal law regardless of State laws.
  • A positive drug test result for marijuana (or any other drug tested for) will result in withdrawal of the tentative job offer and ineligibility to apply for a position within the Department of Defense for 6 months from the date of the drug test.
  • This position has been identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP). The incumbent of this position will be subject to and must consent to a pre-employment and random drug testing.

Specialized Child Care (CYP) Onboarding & Background Checks
  • Required Screenings: Incumbents must satisfactorily complete all background checks for childcare positions. This includes fingerprint checks, a Tier 1 with Child Care check, and a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check.

  • Installation Records Check (IRC): All individuals providing childcare services on a Department of the Navy (DON) installation or program must complete an IRC. The IRC includes a search of:

    • Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program (SARP) records in the ADMITS database.

    • Family Advocacy Program (FAP) records in the FFSMIS database.

    • Installation security/base checks via the Navy Justice Information System (NJIS) and other law enforcement systems.

  • Automatic Disqualifications (DoDI 1402.05): In accordance with Department of Defense Instruction 1402.05, individuals will be automatically disqualified from childcare service for:

    • Any conviction in a civilian or military court (including court-martial or Article 15/NJP) for a sexual offense, any criminal offense involving a child victim, or a felony drug offense.

    • Being held negligent in a civil adjudication or administrative proceeding concerning the death of or serious injury to a child or dependent person entrusted to their care.
