Role Overview

As a Nursing Assistant, you will support patients/residents with acute to chronic conditions by providing essential care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary medical team. Positions are available from entry-level (GS-3) to full performance level (GS-5), each offering unique responsibilities and opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the care of patients, maintaining their personal hygiene, physical comfort, and aiding in nutrition and hydration.
• Monitor and report patient conditions, using equipment such as glucose monitoring devices.
• Safeguard patient confidentiality and ensure all activities are conducted under recognized safety standards.
• Collaborate with and support licensed nursing staff and other healthcare professionals.
• Set up and maintain patient care equipment efficiently.
• Participate actively in training and mentoring new staff when applicable.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following basic requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship
• Proficiency in written and spoken English
• Completion of necessary educational and certification requirements

Preferred Experience

• Experience in long-term care environments.

Education and Experience Requirements

Depending on the grade level, requirements vary from 6 months of experience as a Nursing Assistant to a nursing-related degree.

Physical and Work Environment

• Physical activities include lifting, standing for extended periods, and frequent bending.
• Work involves using personal protective equipment and adapting to varying pace and priorities.
