Nutrition Systems Coordinator

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Nutrition Systems Coordinator to join our Nutrition Communication Center (NCC) at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. In this role, you will manage Nutrition and Food Service information systems, maintaining system integrity and ensuring smooth operations. This is a full-time position with various schedule options available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Resolve IT issues related to system integration, such as VISTA and other N&FS systems.
  • Develop and update nutrient databases for menu items served.
  • Make updates to food service systems, including menu/recipe changes.
  • Consult external contractors for unresolved technical issues.
  • Troubleshoot menu-related challenges, both electronic and paper-based.
  • Collaborate with clinical nutrition staff on complex diet tray ticket issues.
  • Provide training and orientation for new and existing N&FS staff.
  • Act as a liaison between Veterans, healthcare staff, and N&FS staff.
  • Engage in performance improvement activities and compliance assurance with regulatory standards.
  • Address and resolve patient problems and complaints related to N&FS.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Completion of required steps, including assessments and online onboarding.
  • One year of specialized experience at GS-05 level or higher involving training, technical assistance, and system management within a nutrition or medical setting.
  • OR 9 semester hours of graduate education related to dietetics and nutrition.
  • Combination of the above education and experience will be considered.
  • Participation in mandatory health programs, including seasonal flu and COVID-19 vaccination.

Physical Requirements

The role involves extensive use of phone, computer, and occasional lifting and movement within the medical center.
