The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Operations Research Analyst performing professional and scientific work requiring systematic, critical, intensive investigation into a subject in order to develop the principles, criteria, methods, and data to be used in support of projects or problem-solving studies. To provide high quality enterprise-level performance assessments/metrics and sustaining engineering program execution for the 448 SCMW and P&E Groups to effectively support the warfighters, when and where needed. Working under the guidance of senior analyst(s), applies a range of analytical, mathematical, and/or statistical theories, principles, and practices to plan, coordinate, and execute segments of complex studies. Compiles, organizes, and analyzes data/information to find solutions to problems, requiring the use of a broad range of established operations research methods and techniques. Participates in special initiatives, studies, and projects. Attends meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to program planning. Keeps abreast of emerging technologies and professional development to remain current in the field and for application to work assignments.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualification will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Professional knowledge of a wide range of principles, concepts, and practices of operations research analysis to apply scientific methods and techniques to analyze systems, processes, and/or operational problems and procedures.
2. Knowledge of mathematics and analysis to perform studies and prepare reports, documentation, and correspondence to communicate recommendations/conclusions clearly.
3. Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions.
4. Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply operations research rules and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend solutions to senior analysts.
5. Ability to analyze problems to identify significant factors and fundamental relationships, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions.
6. Ability to plan and organize work and confer with co-workers effectively.
Additional Position Requirements:
1. A Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET accredited institution in operations research or mathematics, computer science, one of the physical sciences, engineering or a closely related scientific discipline is highly desired.
2. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
3. May be required to acquire and maintain a security clearance.
4. This position has been designated as an Non-Critical Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP). The selectee must meet, or be capable of achieving the APDP certification as designated on the position description within the defined grace period for that certification level after assignment. This position also requires the employee to engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 80 Continuous Learning points every 24 months.
Education
Basic Requirements:
Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
