The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Operations Command (SpOC) at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado is searching for an Operations Support Specialist (NH-0301-03, GS 12/13 equivalent).
Description:
As the Operations Support Specialist in this role, you will support the daily operations of a unit that plays a vital part in national security by providing crucial logistical support for missions across the Satellite Control Network (SCN). You will serve as the primary communications channel between Remote Tracking Stations (RTS) and other SCN organizations, responsible for forecasting, coordinating, and scheduling all non-flight activities that require network resources. A major part of your duties involves operating and maintaining seven RTSs and the Eastern Vehicle Checkout Facility to support operations for over 190 satellites. You will implement action directives to protect critical real-time activities and participate in Depot Level Maintenance planning, scheduling, and conflict resolution. Finally, you will constantly monitor the status of the SCN to understand the operational impacts of all non-flight activities.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized and detail-oriented professional who thrives on keeping complex, mission-driven operations running smoothly behind the scenes. Essential skills include experience managing schedules, coordinating resources, and juggling multiple competing priorities, particularly with the meticulous detail required for SCN launch forecasting. While a background in the Satellite Communication Network-whether from the military, government, or private sector-is highly preferred, the core ability to manage complex logistics is key. A high school diploma is required, though additional professional training in satellite communications is a plus. Crucially, the candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Top Secret security clearance and be willing to undergo the necessary background check process.
Key Skills and Abilities:
1. A broad knowledge of the organization and functions of activities involved in providing logistical support.
2. Ability to identify all activities that will be involved in providing needed logistical support to the RTSs.
3. Working knowledge of DoW and AF acquisition management processes. Knowledge of the AFSCN maintenance and operations requirements.
4. Knowledge of the worldwide network of satellite communications facilities. Knowledge of Command-and-Control Segment in support of satellite operations.
5. Advanced knowledge of the Electronic Scheduling Dissemination (ESD) current system and replacement system.
6. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to make presentations, reports, and provide technical information clearly using tact and diplomacy.
7. Ability to interpret and adapt AF policy and provide technical direction and guidance to RTS's.
