Join Our Team as an Orthotist/Prosthetist Specialist
At the Veterans Affairs Southern Nevada Health Care System, we are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthotist/Prosthetist Specialist to provide comprehensive clinical and laboratory services to our veterans. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive on addressing complex cases and contributing to the advancement of prosthetic and orthotic care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide treatment for all levels of amputation, including upper limb and hip disarticulations.
- Serve as an advisor to medical professionals on prosthetic and orthotic componentry, ensuring appropriate prescriptions.
- Handle the authorization of purchasing, fabricating, and repairing prosthetic devices.
- Maintain relationships with prosthetic suppliers and oversee the quality of service.
- Participate in research projects to evaluate new prosthetic technologies by selecting pilot wearers and compiling beneficial data.
- Offer technical and administrative support to other facilities regarding prosthetic services.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in orthotics and prosthetics from a CAAHEP accredited program, OR a bachelor's degree in any field with post-graduate certification in orthotics or prosthetics.
- Certification: Board certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC) or the Board for Orthotist/Prosthetist Certification (BOC).
- Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
- U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
Preferred Experience
- Certified Prosthetist-Orthotist with experience in research and innovative device evaluation.
