Duties

  • You will be responsible for providing advice, direction and support for security activities related to the detection and prevention of personnel security risks from compromising classified information and impacting the mission.
  • You will implement and monitor overall security policies, programs and procedures.
  • You will analyze, evaluate, and interpret personnel security policies, guidelines/standards, and coordinates changes in programs or policies as it relates to work requirements within personnel security and their impact on administrative functions.
  • You will determine access suitability, conduct security indoctrination/debriefs, record evaluation and maintenance, polygraph management and coordination, management of special access programs (SAP) and personnel security reporting.

  • This position requires a Counterintelligence (CI) scope polygraph examination.
  • This is a Security Professional Educational Development (SPeD) position and requires DoD certification. Selectee must obtain and maintain certification within prescribed timeframes (see additional information section)

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS/GG-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

  1. Reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating personnel security investigations, records, and files to make preliminary or final recommendations regarding suitability and security clearance eligibility.
  2. Managing or overseeing the implementation and maintenance of facility security technology, including Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), automated access control systems, and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV).
  3. Implementing and evaluating procedures to protect classified information and sensitive operations from unauthorized disclosure or hostile intelligence penetration.
  4. Conducting security compliance reviews, vulnerability assessments, or inspections to identify security gaps and recommend corrective measures to leadership.
  5. Analyzing data from multiple sources to develop technical security briefings, assessments, or reports, and representing the organization in interagency meetings or working groups.

Additional information

This position is designated as a Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) position with a Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) requirement. The SFPC is a Department of Navy baseline certification for security workforce employees that support/execute security programs that focus predominantly on the protection of, or vetting the access to, sensitive and/or classified information. The incumbent must obtain certification within 24 months of assuming the position. SPeD certification/s must be maintained and undergo renewal process every two years in accordance with SECNAVINST 5500.38. Failure to obtain and maintain this condition of employment could result in disciplinary action and/or removal from employment.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
