Summary

About the Position: This position is located in San Antonio, Texas.

Duties

  • Serve as a pharmacist expert on pharmaceuticals, pharmacotherapeutics, drug use evaluation, pharmacoepidemiology, and pharmacoeconomic concerning drug classes in use and proposed for use in the MHS.
  • Perform the entire process of assessing the clinical effectiveness and cost effectiveness of medications. pharmacoeconomic analyses.
  • Monitoring clinical practice trends, product safety developments, market conditions, and costs.
  • Analyzing and synthesizing information to draw conclusions about relative clinical effectiveness, interchangeability, and place in therapy, provider opinion, and clinical coverage.
  • Communicating findings and recommendations to the DoD Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee or other committees/groups in a structured, concise, and evidence-based manner.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Pharmacist:

Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.


Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017, or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.

Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia.

Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors.

Experience: One year of professional pharmacy experience which includes assisting with reviewing clinical literature to estimate drug regiment effectiveness or adverse events; collaborating on drug class reviews; and educating pharmacy stakeholders regarding clinical or cost effectiveness of drug therapies.
This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
