Summary

About the Position: The position is located within Kenner Army Health Clinic Main Pharmacy. Office hours are M-F 0700-1600

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties

  • Manages the organization's pharmaceutical inventory.
  • Serves as central point-of-contact for clinic and pharmacy personnel for matters concerning supply and availability of pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Assists in the filling and dispensing of medication as needed.
  • Packages and labels products to ensure proper handling, storage, and accountability.
  • Packages, labels and dispenses prescriptions to the patient under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist.
  • Prepares bulk or quantity issues of pharmaceuticals for clinics and coordinates delivery arrangement.
  • Issues drugs to inpatient clinics, and affiliated services.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random drug testing, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • Tier 1: This position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • Hepatitis B: Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Tuberculosis (TB): This position requires the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing.
  • Influenza: This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 that includes 1) filling prescriptions, 2) monitoring pharmacy stock levels, and 3) maintenance of pharmacy supply records 4) utilizing pharmacy office automation systems

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
