Conditions of Employment continued:
- Ability to employ 'infantry/SWAT' small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver, with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions, while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, (e.g. Employing "Active Shooter" response tactics and techniques as a member of a small team is required).
- This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
- This position may fall under the Standard Premium Pay Provisions under Title 5 USC.
- The duties of this position meets all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and CAN NOT become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve").
This is a developmental position with known promotion potential to the target position of SCPD 9GP59, Police Officer, GS-0083-04. Incumbent works closely with the supervisor in performing duties identified in the full performance standard core personnel document/core document. This position may be filled at the GS-03 with promotion to the GS-04 or at the GS-04. The individual selected for this position may be promoted to the target level without further competition upon meeting any legal and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-0083, Police Series.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE FOR GS-0083-03 (DEVELOPMENTAL): Applicants must have 6 months of general experience which includes experience in administrative, clerical, technical: or military work that involved protecting property, equipment, data, or materials; or that involved making judgments based on the application of directions, rules, regulations, or laws.

EDUCATION: Successfully completed one year of study at an accredited school above the high school level with at least 6 semester hours of study pertinent to police work.

COMBINATION OF EXPIRENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

GENERAL/SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR GS-0083-04 (FULLY QUALIFIED): Applicants must have 6 months of general work experience and 6 months specialized experience. General experience includes general experience includes experience in administrative, clerical, technical, or military work that involved protecting property, equipment, data, or materials; or that involved making judgments based on the application of directions, rules, regulations, or laws. Specialized experience includes knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.

EDUCATION: Successfully completed two years of study at an accredited school above the high school level with at least 12 semester hours in police administration, police law and evidence, police investigation, criminology, law enforcement, general law, or similar subjects closely related to police work.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
- Knowledge of police officer procedures and operating methods to perform the full range of police officer activities.
- Knowledge of special operating requirements, methods, and procedures for enforcing specialized personnel access controls and preventing unauthorized access to areas where stringent security requirements are enforced. Knowledge of the rights of detained individuals and organizational rules regarding the appropriate use of force to be used in the apprehension of persons.
- Skill in the practices, methods, and techniques for functioning as a quick reaction force team member in support of integrated base defense and of the operation of specialized weapons, security systems, and equipment.
- Skill in the tactics, techniques, and procedures necessary for preparation and response to catastrophic events, enemy attacks, and related threats to installations.
- Skill in performing patrol duties, they serve as a deterrent to crime and other violations of laws, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to operate the Incident Management System and the Security Force Management Information System.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
