Duties

This position is located in an ANG Security Forces Squadron, installations with a police function. The primary purpose of this position is to perform law enforcement work to maintain law and order, preserve the peace, protect life and civil rights, detect and assists local, state, or federal law enforcement in investigations, arrests or apprehension, and perform patrols within the assigned jurisdictions. To provide integrated defense, law enforcement, force protection, preserve the peace, detect and assists local, state, or federal law enforcement in investigations, arrests or apprehension, and respond to emergency situations. To enforce a wide range of federal laws and assimilated local laws for application and enforcement within the jurisdiction of the military installation.

  • This is an T32 excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Current U.S. citizenship, naturalized citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license to operate government motor vehicles (GMV) in accordance with AFI 24-301, Vehicle Operations.
  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the South Carolina Air National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard.

Qualifications

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION OPEN TO AREAS OF CONSIDERATION (AOC) 1 & 2 ONLY. PRIORITY WILL BE GIVEN TO AOC 1.

AOC DEFINITIONS:
Area 1: Current permanent employees of the South Carolina Air National Guard. (Note-Temporary and Indefinite employees do not meet permanent tenure requirements and will not qualify for this AOC)
Area 2: Current members of the South Carolina Air National Guard.
Area 3: Any individual eligible for membership in the South Carolina Air National Guard.

Min/Max Military Grades: E-1/AB, E-2/Amn, E-3/A1C, E-4/SrA, E-5/SSgt, E-6/TSgt

Compatible Military Assignments: 3P0X1

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Requires the completion of high school or general educational development equivalency; along with the successful completion of an equivalent military security or police training course. Understanding of the basic principles and concepts of military security forces functions, laws, policies, regulations, rules, procedures, and methods.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To be rated qualified for this position your resume must show definitively at least 12months experience in the following-experiences in knowledge of practical security force (SF) activities in direct support of the military weapon systems and physical security; law and order; or area security operations. Have work experiences in law enforcement, maintaining law and order, preserving the peace, and protecting life and civil rights within the jurisdiction of civilian/public areas or military installations. Have experiences in protecting federal property from hazards such as sabotage, espionage, trespass, theft, fire, and accident or willful damage and destruction. Have experiences in responding to disaster and relief operations and participates in contingencies.

TRAINING: Completion of the security forces (SF) apprentice course is mandatory for award of the entry level AFSC 3P031.

MILITARY SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Upon selection, individuals are assigned to a compatible military AFSC position in accordance with the applicable Legal Statutes, National Guard Instructions and Policies, Wing's Unit Manpower Document, and the current NG ANG Compatibility table. Applicants must understand and acknowledge their responsibilities to obtain and maintain all Security Clearance (NACLC), medical, and AFSC requirements in order to retain their dual status technician employment.

OTHER QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS AND SELECTIVE FACTORS:
Never been convicted of domestic violence IAW the Lautenberg Amendment.
No history of excessive alcohol use or been arrested in the past two years for two or more alcohol related incidents regardless of disposition, except when proven not guilty.
No more than one active wage garnishment for delinquency.
No more than two delinquent charge off/collection (>= 30 days) payments within last two years.
Within three years prior to entry into military service, not have been terminated from civilian employment more than twice for reasons of misconduct, theft, or alcohol use.
Must not have used, distributed, or manufactured illicit narcotics or been arrested for any narcotics use, distribution or manufacturing.
Have not sniffed or used a substance to obtain an altered consciousness state from aerosol spray, lighter fluid, petro chemical, adhesives, Freon, or any other chemical for a purpose not intended for use.
Qualification to bear firearms according to AFI 31-117, Arming and Use of Force by Air Force Personnel.
Never been convicted by a general, special, or summary courts-martial.
Never received nonjudicial punishment under the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) which resulted in either reduction or suspended reduction in grade, or correctional custody for offenses involving substantiated drug abuse as defined in AFI 44-121, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment (ADAPT) Program, acts of larceny, wrongful appropriation, robbery, burglary, housebreaking, misconduct in combat defined in UCMJ articles 99-106, or any act that harms or has the potential to harm the physical safety or well-being of animals to include Military Working Dogs.
Never been convicted by a civilian court of a Category One, Two, or Three offense, nor exceeded the accepted number of Category Four offenses. Category Three and Four traffic offenses alone are not disqualifying. NOTE: Categories of offenses are described and listed in AFI 36-2002, Regular Air Force and Special Category Accessions, Uniform Guide List of Typical Offenses.
No documented record of gang affiliation.
No fear of working around nuclear weapons or nuclear components.
For award and retention of these AFSCs, must maintain an Air Force Network License
according to AFI 33-115, Vol 2, Licensing Network Users and Certifying Network Professionals.
Specialty requires routine access to Secret material or similar environment. For award and retention of AFSCs 3P0XX, completion of a current National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit (NACLC) according to AFI 31-501, Personnel Security Program Management.
NOTE: Award of the 3-skill level without a completed NACLC is authorized provided an interim Secret security clearance has been granted according to AFI 31-501.
Must maintain an Air Force Network License.
Position requires routine access to Secret material. Successful completion of a current National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit (NACLC) is required.

MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS: To qualify for this series, normal color vision and normal depth perception are required.
Normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123, Medical Examinations and Standards.
Distance visual acuity correctable to 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other.
No speech disorder or noticeable communication deficiency as defined in AFI 48-123.
No diagnosed fear of acrophobia (fear of heights) or confined spaces.
Pre-service cannabis/synthetic drug use cannot exceed nine times or used within one year of entrance into the 3P Career Field.
To qualify for this series, must confirm there is no history of emotional instability, personality disorder, or other unresolved mental health problems.
No record of sleep disorders to include, but not limited to, sleep apneas, insomnias, hypersomnias, narcolepsy, or restless leg syndrome.
No current diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, or Perceptual/Learning Disorder(s) with no use of medication(s) to treat same in the last 12 months.
No history of mood disorders including bipolar disorder, major depression, dysthymia, or depression not otherwise specified.
No recorded evidence of personality disorder, sustained or untreatable emotional instability to include depression, or suicidal behavior to include attempts, gestures, ideations, threats or history of self-mutilation. Individuals who had their spleens removed are NOT eligible for assignment to the military working dog program or any canine functions.

Education

For entry into this specialty, completion of high school or General Equivalency Diploma is mandatory.
