Duties

  • You will provide classroom studies and instruction on practical use of law enforcement equipment and techniques.
  • You will ensure that all law enforcement personnel are in compliance with agency standards and policies governing employee proficiency in the use and maintenance of assigned firearms.
  • You will prepare course material for NSF training objectives.
  • You will determine the most effective ways and means of teaching course curriculum.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. You will need to maintain firearm proficiency.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1. Knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property;
2. Teaching course curriculum in specialized and technical instructional areas related to Navy Security Forces (NSF) training objectives;
3. Coordinating with other instructors to maintain and develop course material ensuring improvements to teaching methods are continuously made.
