Summary

You will serve as a POLICE OFFICER (INSTRUCTOR) in the PROTECTION SUPPORT OPERATIONS, TRAINING DEPARTMENT of NAS KEY WEST SEC DET.

Duties

  • You will present training (e.g., lectures, discussions, guided conference, demonstration methods) to instruct law enforcement, investigative techniques, procedures, and practical application sessions.
  • You will conduct field inspection of weapons assigned to law enforcement personnel.
  • You will report performance, progress, or training needs of law enforcement employees to supervisor.
  • You will coordinate with other federal law enforcement instructors to develop different approaches and methods of instruction.

  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying law enforcement procedures to instruct on Federal and local laws, traffic laws, established rules, regulations, and legal authorities; 2) Preparing instructional methods and theories used in a Police Officer's training environment; 3) Instructing investigative procedures, techniques, and methods to resolve crimes and other incidents; and 4) Developing course materials and techniques to train law enforcement personnel. This position requires rotating shift work

This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
