Duties
Major Duties: This is not an all-inclusive list
A POLICE OFFICER (T32 Indefinite), GS, 0083, 7, 1. Performs the full spectrum of police officer duties within the assigned jurisdictions: Incumbent may full powers of apprehension and detention, which entails carrying a firearm, mirandizing suspects, preserving evidence, and testifying in court as it pertains to enforcing regulations within assigned jurisdiction. The incumbent is required to meet all requirements of Federal, DoD, AF, MAJCOM, State, and local level rules and regulations to maintain trainings and weapons qualifications, as a police officer on a military installation, which may include maintaining Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification. Patrols the installation on foot or in vehicles; responds to alarms, irregularities, and unusual or suspicious circumstances; and investigates the incidents. Enforces traffic rules and regulations, including those related to speed, reckless and drunken driving. Exercises search and assists local, state, or federal law enforcement with arrest authority, detains witnesses, apprehends suspects, interviews witnesses and other persons involved, and determines whether facts warrant apprehension or lesser action. When dealing with witness/suspects, officers must consider the current social-political climate and find ways to alleviate any tension resulting from events outside the installation which may raise prejudice/distrust of authority figures and increase conflict levels between officers and the people with whom they interact. Officers must also be aware of any witnesses'/suspects' possible gang affiliations and the difficulties/risks associated with them. Appears in court to testify as required in Military Courts Martial or Federal and State Court proceedings. Provides sworn testimony based on the investigative process, evidence gathered, witness' statements in criminal and traffic courts. Upon notification, responds to Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) and Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) alarms and determines probable cause (actual or false alarm). Protects personnel, material, tactical military assets, and high value assets by executing daily Random Anti terrorism Measure (RAM) and supplemental anti-terrorism measures during increased force protection conditions. Responds to and investigates emergency calls, complaints, and other calls for service, to include protests, active shooter events, and terrorist attacks. Responsible for Entry Control Point (ECP), Traffic Control Points (TCP), Assures criminal or Antiterrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) measures are met to protect installation command and assure mission accomplishment. Performs vehicle examinations searching for illegal substances, firearms, and explosive devices. Functions as first line of defense to prevent possible terrorist attacks by vehicle, selling/distributing illegal substances, and maintaining the safety and security of the installation. Reacts to neutralize threats, secure resources, personnel, and property. Investigates accidents, summons rescue squads and firefighters, and redirects onlookers from scene. Performs flight armorer duties, responsible for overseeing the appropriate arming of fellow police officers and MWD units. As armorer responsible for maintaining accountability of weapons and ensuring they are clean, serviceable, and ready for use. The armorer is an integral role ensuring officers are able to defend themselves and others. (30%)
2. Conducts Investigations/Surveillance: Conducts investigations of crimes and complaints covering a wide range of subjects and allegations that are not within the scope of Air Force Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) or the scope of the higher-level detectives assigned to the Squadron. Complaints range from simple inquiries to incidents/complaints requiring investigations that are relatively short in duration and end with the detention of a suspect. Interviews personnel and collects data while conducting formal investigations on foot or in vehicles and inquiries into criminal acts such as assaults, major vehicle accidents, larceny of and/or damage to government and private property, minor drug offenses, pay and allowance matters, misdemeanor offenses involving misuse of government computers, and other incidents as directed by competent authority. Determines the proper course of action and plans, coordinates, initiates, and takes actions necessary to resolve the complaint or inquiry. Investigations involve searching crime scenes for clues, interviewing witnesses, following leads, analyzing, and evaluating evidence, and locating and detaining suspects. Interviews subjects, complainants and witnesses to obtain information, takes written statements; conducts examination of crime scenes; searches for evidence; identifies evidence; etc. The above is not a complete list of duties. GENERAL AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: At least 1 year equivalent to at least next lower grade level. Experience that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. The primary purpose of Police Work, is to lead, manage, and perform security force activities in direct support of the United States Nuclear Enterprise; weapon systems and physical security; law and order; military working dog; combat arms; and area security operations. The work directs the control and operations of firing ranges; and inspects, repairs, and maintains ground weapons. Enforce laws, maintains law and order, preserves the peace, and protects life and civil rights within the jurisdiction of military installations. Must qualify, acknowledge and agree to the selective factors IAW NGB 0083 Occupational series.
Position Series and AFSC require routine access to Secret material or similar environment; therefore, award and retention of AFSC 3P0X1, completion of a current National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit (NACLC) according to AFI 31-501, Personnel Security Program Management, are mandatory.

Conditions of Employment continued:
- The incumbent must wear a DAF Police Officer uniform as identified in the DAF Police AFI and required to meet dress and appearance standards when supporting non-DoD agencies IAW the AFI. Dual Status technicians, military uniform will be worn at the discretion of the SFS commander.
- Must wear approved protective clothing such as body armor/ballistic plates, helmets, personal protective equipment, coats, boots, traffic vests and/or chemical protective equipment, (e.g.,respirator mask).
- Incumbent must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate all security forces vehicles and installed equipment.
- Subject to duty position evaluation on a pass/fail standard in accordance with AFI 36-2646,Security Forces Training and Standardization Evaluation Programs.11. Must pass formal law enforcement training school as determined by NGB/A4 and obtain DoD Peace Officer Standardization and Training Certification.
- Incumbent is required to obtain first responder training/certifications in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care, and first aid on the job and maintain annually.
- Ability to employ 'infantry/SWAT' small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver, with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions, while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, (e.g., Employing "Active Shooter" response tactics and techniques as a member of a small team is required).
- The incumbent must obtain and maintain qualifications and/or certifications as identified by the hiring official of all equipment and tools necessary to safely perform the duties of the position.
- Must complete the following duty position evaluations (DPEs) within the first two years of employment and be successfully re-evaluated in accordance with standards listed in AFI 36-2646,Security Forces Training and Standardization Evaluation Program. The DPE qualifications must occur in this order; (1) Installation Entry Controller, (2) Patrolman/Security Response Team, (3) Alarm Monitor and (4) Base Defense Operations Center Controller/Dispatcher.
- This position does not meet the definition of law enforcement officer (LEO) and is excluded from coverage as LEO for purposes of the Federal Employment Retirement System-Base Annuity 1A W 5CFR, Part 842, Subpart H.
- The incumbent of this position is required to meet certain physical requirements and is required to provide a copy of their current AF Form 422 or AF Form 469 annually.
- To qualify for this series, a current physical and a cleared drug test are mandatory.

EDUCATION: Must possess the specialized experience requirements as listed. No substitution of education or training may be made for the required specialized experience at GS-6 and above.

Area 3: All Minnesota National Guard members currently assigned to the MNANG or to the MNARNG applying for a position within the component in which they are currently assigned. i.e. temporary technician or Traditional Guardsman.
