Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a POWER SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC, Position Description Number D0324P01 and is part of the CO 140th MXS, National Guard.

The primary purpose of this position is to accomplish maintenance on electronically controlled support equipment containing highly complex digital devices and integrated circuits.

Duties

Responsible for the interpretation of numerous manufacturer drawings, specifications, operating instructions, and test procedures to troubleshoot, calibrate, align and repair a variety of highly complex pieces of powered support equipment. Performs inspections, preventative maintenance, servicing, repair and adjustment on complex rotary diesel engines. Must independently determine work sequences, specifications, and special procedures to be
used to fault-isolate and repair unusual problems in various pieces of powered support equipment. Performs intermediate-level maintenance on powered support equipment and non-powered AGE. Troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, and modifies and operates aerospace ground equipment such
as AC and DC power generators, various types of internal combustion engines, air compressors, blowers, hydraulic test stands, cabin leakage testers, portable diesel engine driven generators, emergency lighting units, deicers, heaters, load banks, hydrostatic testers, cryogenic carts,
decontamination units, thermal bath, vacuum pumps, flow meters, lavatory service trailers, air conditioners and various pieces of non-power support equipment. Performs maintenance data collection, prepares other required forms. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluation such as ORI, IG, and UE inspections, mobility, and command support exercises. Participates and assists in conducting the necessary safety program for the Aerospace Ground Equipment activity. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must hold the grade of E-4 thru E-5.

  • For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-4 - E-5


1. Specialized experience will be used to determine qualifications for the announced position.

Must have at least 18 months of Specialized Experience in each of the following:
Experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories.
Experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments.
Experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.

Education

Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience for this position.

10. Per ARNG-HRH Policy Memorandum #10-39, mandatory Full Time Staff (FTS) training is required within a year of hire as a condition of employment in vacancy announcements for both Technician and Active Guard Reserve positions. Failure of new FTS personnel to complete NGB prescribed courses at PEC within the first year of employment may be cause for reassignment to other full-time positions or termination of their employment.
11. Current COANG Technicians and AGRs hired for a position in which an MCR is required will remain in their current status unless/until the MCR is approved. In the event the MCR is not approved, they are accepting the position in their current status.
