Duties
As a Powered Support Systems Mechanic, WG-5378-10, you will install, inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, operate, overhaul, test and modifies powered ground support equipment, such as engine driven generator sets, heaters, ventilation, air compressing, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment for all special purpose tactical environmental control units, most of which have highly sophisticated and complex electronic, electrical and/or pneumatic control circuits. Provides similar support for fixed facilities. Perform intermediate-level maintenance on powered support equipment. This includes working on engines and generators such as removing, repairing, and overhauling of accessories, and rebuilding of units. Engine rebuilding work requires removal and replacement of crankshafts, pistons, and other integral parts. Replaces, checks and adjusts valves, bearings, cams, clutches, bushings, springs, armatures, pushrods, exhaust manifolds, tubing, hose and defective wiring. Diagnoses malfunctions, using visual and auditory senses, test equipment and applicable technical publications; makes repairs, removes, disassembles and assembles components and sub-systems.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Physical effort involves stooping, bending, stretching, standing, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion including pushing and shoving of wheeled AGE. Lifts heavy equipment and components weighing up to 40 pounds and, with assistance, lifts items weighing over 40 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside, in inclement weather, on icy, wet and slippery surfaces and work areas, and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers from toxic fumes, oil, heat, fluids, shock, high noise level, possible cuts, abrasions and burns, extremely low temperature cryogenic liquids and extremely high air pressures while repairing, adjusting, positioning, or moving equipment. Works with high voltage electrical power and comes in contact with petroleum products. Incumbent works on equipment parts that are dirty and greasy and may be dangerous to operate or repair because of defects. Follows safety procedures and wears protective glasses and clothing which may be uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time.

Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. First consideration will be given to Category 1.
PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard.

MILITARY GRADES: Enlisted: E3 thru E8
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must you have experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of mechanical maintenance work; ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams and schematics, and skill in the use of equipment and hand tools used in troubleshooting, testing, and repairing equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG10 Must have at least 18 months experience or training removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing parts, components, and accessories; experience which provided working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to powered support equipment and systems; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments; experience which provided working knowledge of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships; experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
