Duties

  • You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, overhaul, repair and reconditioning of industrial shop equipment and their attachments.
  • You will disassemble machinery, clean parts, and inspect for wear and breaks.
  • You will replace worn or defective parts with spare parts or if parts are not available manufacture needed parts using machinery and precision tools.
  • You will set, align, adjust spindle bearings, gears, wheels, axles, rollers, cams, shafts, and carriages.

  • This may be a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

* Reading and Interpreting instruction books, process instructions, designing memorandums (DMs), blueprints, samples or specifications.
* Setting up and operating inside machinery such as lathes, planers, millers, grinders, and other related and specialized equipment.
* Must be capable of performing numerous types of repairs and adjustments in a satisfactory manner with minimum supervision.
* Working with metallurgy and the effects of heat processes including brittleness or toughness of metals.
