Duties

  • Directly assists International Fellows and their families on preparing for pre-arrival, coordinating arrival, in-processing and out-processing, as well as other continuity of life assistance.
  • Assist in the execution of the Field Studies Program, which consists of multi-day field studies, single-day field trips, multi-faceted community sponsorship program, and events.
  • Outreach and engagement in a variety of activities and initiatives regarding the National Defense University's International Fellows.
  • Provides data management support to training program managers in handling and tracking all International Fellows data.
  • Provides portfolio management by drafting and/or maintaining an accurate thorough standard operating procedure manual and reporting procedures for assigned portfolio.

  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Travel away from the primary duty station is required approximately 60 day per academic year.
  • State issued Drive's License.

Qualifications

You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-5 federal experience for GS-7 and GS-7 federal experience for GS-09 grade level in the Federal service.

GS-7 Specialized experience is defined as: experience applying administrative policies, practices to support the administrative functions of an organization.

GS-9 Specialized experience is defined as: Experience with 1) domestic and international travel; 2) providing advice to high level faculty/staff/students of administrative policies; and 3) preparing standardized documents.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience:

For the GS-07: One full year of graduate level education or Superior Academic Achievement (http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/policy/ApplicationOfStds-04.asp) may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.

For the GS-9: Two full years of progressively higher level graduate education, Master's or equivalent graduate degree, may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement.
