Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional
This position functions primarily as a neuropsychologist for the Mental Health Care Line, which encompasses both the inpatient and outpatient divisions. In addition, the neuropsychologist may be asked to support interdisciplinary treatment teams in the Community Living Centers and serve as a consultant to other Care Lines in the facility. Work is primarily in support of activities managed by the Mental Health Care Line Manager and Chief Psychologist, but the incumbent may also provide support as requested to other areas of the hospital, as well as to various training programs located at the facility. Clinical Neuropsychology is a specialty in profession of psychology that applies principles of assessment and intervention based upon the scientific study of human behavior and cognition as it relates to normal and abnormal functioning of the central nervous system.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES (75% of time)
- Performs psychological and neuropsychological assessment, evaluation and treatment of patients with problems of cognitive deficits, personality, emotional adjustment or mental illness. Performs psychotherapy with patients, either through individual sessions or through group therapy sessions.
- Uses therapeutic techniques.
- Administers a wide variety of group and individual psychological tests including neuropsychological instruments. Administers and interprets neuropsychological test batteries.
- Provides verbal feedback on assessment results, diagnosis and recommendations to the patient and/or their family/caregiver/guardian. Writes clear, concise reports in response to consultation requests.
- Provides Evaluative Support to a large population of clients affiliated with the installation or for a particular client base.
- Plans and conducts group and individual psychotherapy.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES (25% of time)
- Provides clinical consultation to GS-13 neuropsychology staff members.
- Trains the psychometrician in test administration.
- Guides and supervises psychometrician with their clinical and administrative tasks.
- Manages all neuropsychology consults, communicates effectively with referral sources, and assigns testing cases to neuropsychology staff to evenly distribute workload.
- Develops a rotation in neuropsychology for psychology interns.
- Liaises with other neuropsychologists in the VISN in order to refer and/or receive neuropsychology consults in order to minimize wait times for patients.
- Proposes and develops neuropsychology services SOPs for the Division manager that are consistent with the medical center's mission and goals (e.g. improving productivity, quality and access to services).
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 08:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66

Experience - 2-year post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology.
