Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Communicating detailed instructions for emergency or non-emergency situations from within an emergency communication center, such as (providing specific locations to police, fire or EMS responders using a trunked radio system); 2) Prioritizing all incoming emergency and non-emergency calls, such as (recognizing the difference in priority between a reported heart attack victim and a lost cell phone report); 3) Accurately creating entries or inputting records into automated data systems that are public safety or criminal justice centric, such as (entering a person as wanted or a gun as stolen in National Criminal Information Center records); and 4) Creating electronic documents to record activities, transactions, or other records that are public safety or criminal justice centric, such as (creating calls for service in Computer Aided Dispatch or Priority Dispatch Paramount software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
