PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK CONDITIONS: The person in this position,or the most part, performs work inside with adequate light and ventilation. Periodically must work in the facility sub-basement in a cramped and inconvenient environment where long periods of bending and crawling are required. Exterior work results in exposure to heat and cold and occasionally inclement weather and wind. The nature of the work results in exposure to toxic vapors, liquids and powders. The employee is issued protective devices (goggles, respirators, gloves, etc.) and clothing to perform hazardous tasks, which may cause discomfort and restrict freedom of movement. There is risk of injury such as cuts, bruises and insect/rodent bites. Often areas to be treated are in cramped and hard to reach places. This requires standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, crawling and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, carries and sets up materials, solutions and equipment in excess of 50 pounds.

Selective Placement Factor (skill, knowledge, ability or other worker characteristic basic to - and essential for - satisfactory performance of the job). The Selective Placement Factor for this position is: A current and valid Tennessee state Pesticide Applicator certification is required in the following areas: public health, structural and ornamental insect and disease control. A copy of your current and valid Tennessee state Pesticide Applicator certification must be submitted with your application to receive credit.
The employee in this position must keep abreast of rapidly changing laws relating to chemical use, restrictions and regulations; safety and preventive treatment requirements for storage and exposure to controlled or regulated products AND must maintain training for recertification.
DRIVER'S LICENSE (SCREEN OUT): A current and valid state-issued Driver's License is required for this position.
