Duties
- You will perform and interpret air, water and surface radiation surveys.
- You will monitor ongoing equipment decontamination operations and procedures related to one or two trades to detect and correct deficiencies, prevent incidents, and improve radiological safety of on-going work.
- You will interpret work plans to detect deviations from approved procedures and assure compliance with radiological safety requirements.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
For GS-05: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: conducting radiological control surveillance surveys of activities and/or personnel; maintaining surveillance over cleaning and decontamination of equipment and tools; assisting with radiological control work to identify risks; and performing radiological evaluations of specific worksites.
For GS-04: Your resume must also demonstrate at least 6 months of general experience performing support duties in physical science or a related field and six months of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-03) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting with radiological control surveillance surveys of activities and/or personnel; verifying equipment and decontaminant tools; and assisting with radiological control work.

Successful completion of 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as physical science, engineering, or any branch of mathematics, except financial and commercial mathematics.
