Duties
The incumbent installs, modifies, maintains, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance on a variety of high pressure piping to include but not limited to steam distribution and heating systems, oil/ natural gas, heating exchangers, and installs pipe insulation, condensate collection tanks, and pumps, hot water heating devices, circulating pumps, radiators, pressure reducing valves, strainers, fire suppression systems, backflow preventors, and steam traps.
The incumbent installs modifies, maintains repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on a variety of plumbing systems to include but limited to domestic water systems, drainage waste and vent systems, water softeners, chemical feed pumps, chlorine systems, hot water return systems, well pumps, circulators, back flow devices, relief valves, shut off valves, metering devices, mixing valves, hot water heaters, plumbing fixtures and faucets.
Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and failures and determines the extent of repairs and parts needed, estimated materials required, selects best work methods, techniques and trade practices and accomplishes the repairs or overhaul.
Responsible for selecting and safely using proper tools, devices, manuals, references, and efficient procedures comply with safety and trade practices.
Responsible for providing advice, training, guidance, and assistance for lower grade workers assigned to help on assigned tasks. Their work is spot-checked occasionally to determine if standard trade practices, local installation standards and time allowed for completion of the task have been met.
Maintains the integrity and accuracy of data related to accomplished work, preventive Maintenance, and Operations logs.
Works as part of a multidisciplinary team of maintenance personnel including Pipefitters, HVAC mechanics, Carpenters, Boiler Plant Operators Electricians, and outside contractors.
Work Schedule: 8:00am to 4:30pm

Physical Requirements: The work may involve prolonged crouching and standing and frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in exhausting and uncomfortable position. The incumbent frequently lifts or carries tools, equipment, ladders, scaffolding, parts and supplies up to 50 pounds. Occasionally, the incumbent will be required to lift and carry items over 80 pounds. Incumbent must possess valid state driver's license.
