This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Hawaii has many outdoor activities all year round including surfing, paddling, diving, fishing, and hiking.
Duties
- You will repair and maintain plumbing systems by removing, cleaning, replacing, packing, and sealing defective parts of utility, supply, and disposal systems such as dirty traps, sections of broken pipes, and leaking drains.
- You will remove broken or damaged sections of pipe.
- You will measure, cut, bend, thread, and install replacement sections being careful to ensure accuracy of fit and absence of leaks.
- You will remove, clean, reinstall, or replace joints and fixtures such as unions, dirty or clogged traps, and broken or leaky faucets.
- You will check all completed work to ensure that repairs are complete, that no leaks are present, and that the part of the system repaired, replaced, or maintained is functioning properly.

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and keep current a valid state drivers license and any installation and/or DOD requirement for the type vehicle being operated.
- Employee is subject to be called back to work during non-duty hours to respond to emergencies and make repairs. Employee will have his/her name on a call out roster and will provide their phone number for the roster.
- Protective devices such as but not limited to ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, gloves, hard hat and safety shoes is required.
- Incumbent must successfully pass a pre-employment physical and any subsequent annual physical.
- Mission Essential: Incumbent is required to report for duty during inclement weather, Natural Disasters, and other emergency situations and may be required to remain on duty after the official shift ends.
- This position requires temporary duty travel (TDY) of 10%.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Plumber Worker ~ without more than normal supervision: performing common plumbing repairs and installation- piping, fitting, or fixtures for defective parts or connections or leaks. Assist with replacement or repairs of various plumbing fixtures or pipes using hand tools such as rulers, saws and pipe wrenches. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
- Physical Effort - The employee makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms and where the parts or systems worked on are in hard to reach places. The incumbent stands, stoops, bends, kneels, climbs, and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Employee frequently, unassisted, lifts, carries, and sets up parts and equipment that weigh up to 40 pounds; and occasionally lifts or moves heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers.
- Working Conditions - The employee works in cramped quarters both in and out of doors where there is exposure to mud, dirt, dust, grease, bad weather, bad smelling fumes, etc. The employee will occasionally be required to wear a respirator to perform needed work. There is occasional exposure to the possibility of broken bones and regular exposure to the possibility of scrapes, bruises, burns from caustic soda and hot lead, injury from the use of power and hand tools, and infection from working at unsanitary work sites.
