Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work utilizing basic laws and regulations to maintain order and protect life and property; conducting vehicle or foot patrols; controlling access to restricted areas by verifying credentials; responding to calls for assistance; or conducting personal or vehicle searches. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
GS-07 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes work utilizing laws and regulations to maintain order and protect life and property; responding to calls for police assistance and emergency situations; arresting and mirandizing suspects; conducting investigations of crimes and suspected criminal activities; conducting vehicle or foot patrols; writing reports; or conducting personal or vehicle searches. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
