Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Buckley Space Force Station is searching for a Prevention Analyst for SBD 2 (NH-0101-03, GS-12/13 Equivalent).

Purpose of position: To serve as the Prevention Analyst at a US Space Force installation. Under the direction of the Integrated Prevention Chief, the Prevention Analyst leads collection, analysis, interpretation, and visual implementation of data for the installation Integrated Resilience Office. Responsible for data management and routine analysis used in program evaluation and public health research within their community. Supports prevention partners, leadership and the general population with understanding self-directed harm and prohibited abusive or harmful acts from a public health perspective and establishing a culture of prevention. Maintains consistent and reliable information to inform decision-making, strategies, policy, and program evaluation. Collaborates and integrates primary prevention efforts in areas such as sexual assault, family violence (incl. intimate partner violence and child abuse and neglect), workplace violence (incl. sexual harassment, bullying and hazing), suicide, and alcohol and substance use/abuse/misuse prevention.

SBD 2 Mission: Deliver unrivaled global combat capabilities to our Combatant commands, Joint mission partners and Allies, powering uninterrupted missile warning, intelligence, and cyber operations.

Key Skills and Abilities:
1. Comprehensive and professional knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies as well as behavioral, social science and/or public health practices principles and theories relating to the prevention of violence and promotion of help seeking and resilience.
2. Thorough knowledge of a wide range of delivery systems relating to violence prevention and the multiple uses of such systems.
3. In-depth knowledge of DAF culture, military family dynamics, related professional fields, and a thorough knowledge of the DAF community and the unique challenges that DAF families face; or equivalent knowledge.
4. Knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions to inform prevention efforts; ability to formulate and conduct assessments and evaluations to implement and monitor primary prevention plans.
5. Skill and ability to provide professional advisory services, develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques and design, build, and use models and simulation techniques for prevention.
6. Ability to identify individual and community risk and protective factors in order to determine needed primary prevention activities to meet the needs of the base populace.
7. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and determine resource requirements; determine goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinate with other organizations; monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes.
8. Skill in working with customers to assess needs, provide assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
9. Ability to persuade others to accept recommendations, work toward an agreement, and negotiate mutually acceptable solutions.
10. Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
11. Ability to identify problems and use sound judgment and decisions to generate and evaluate alternatives and make recommendations.

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise; must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance for the position.
  • Subject to TDY 5 days a year.
  • Must be available to participate in Government mandated and/or required training to achieve/maintain proficiency.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft within CONUS or to downrange sites in the performance of Temporary Duty Assignments (TDY).
  • This position is on-site and eligible for situational telework, 2-4 days per pay period. Employee must reside within commuting distance of worksite. Schedule and percentage will be determined by leadership, employee, and the situation.
  • PCS/Relocation is available.
  • Incumbent may be required to perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must obtain and maintain DoD Sexual Assault Advocate Certification and recertification from the National Organization of Victim Assistance (NOVA) as specified in DoD and AF policy.
