Primary Care Nurse Practitioner

Location: Madison, WI (with travel requirements once trained)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Primary Care Nurse Practitioner to join our dedicated healthcare team. You will work as an independent practitioner within the Ambulatory Care Service, providing comprehensive care to our veterans. Your role will encompass preventive care, managing chronic diseases, and addressing acute health concerns with an evidence-based approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage acute and chronic health conditions focusing on health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Provide direct patient care across various modalities like in-person, virtual, and telephone consultations.
  • Interpret labs and diagnostic tests, prescribing appropriate interventions.
  • Coordinate care by initiating referrals and consultations with specialty services.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide patient education.
  • Partake in disease prevention activities including screenings for mental health disorders and health promotion.
  • Actively participate in interdisciplinary team activities and leadership, embodying the values of integrity, commitment, advocacy, respect, and excellence.
  • Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship with Selective Service Registration for males born after 1959.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Valid and unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Master's, Doctoral degree, or post-master's certificate in nursing from an accredited institution (ACEN or CCNE).
  • Current board certification from a nationally recognized body (ANCC, AANPCB, etc.).
  • Completion of pre-employment medical and background checks.
  • Preferred Experience

  • Previous primary care and geriatrics experience is preferred.

    Work Schedule
