Duties
Serves as the Principal for Strategic Communications Consultant, the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and guiding the development and implementation of key communications plans, strategies, and programs to support MCCS MR operations. Reports to the Deputy Director of Marketing and Innovation the incumbent will support the decision-making process of the Executive Team by advising on Strategic Communications matters and translating strategies and plans into tactical initiatives.
Serves as the primary marketing strategy consultant to the Deputy Director of Marketing and Innovation in their role as principal advisor to the Director, MR. Works closely with the Deputy Director of Marketing and Innovation on the development of business and communication strategy and messaging to senior leadership across the United States Marine Corps (USMC), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and Department of Defense (DoD). Possesses professional experience and capabilities commensurate with those expected of the Deputy Director, with an emphasis on a superior level of knowledge in strategic communication, market assessment, growth strategies, innovation processes, brand management, and analytical assessment of programs and campaigns.
Analyzes existing strategic documents with pertaining to strategic communications; developing written assessments; briefing senior executives on assessments; and advising on changes required to current communications plans. Develops, executes, and evaluates communication plans and strategies to support MCCS MR operations and carry out leadership initiatives and management priorities, including development and implementation of MCCS¿ Integrated Communication Strategy.
Provides expert advice to the Deputy Director of Marketing and Innovation, and the Executive Team on recommended communication approaches and strategies for internal (employee) and external (customer and stakeholder) communications.
Provides and maintains quality assurance for all enterprise level communications. Ensures coordinated, focused, strategic messaging, and ensures efficient and effective communications throughout the enterprise. Drafts written information for a variety of audiences to include senior level MCCS leaders, Branch Heads, and MCCS Directors at the installation level. Participates in the development and implementation of MCCS-wide internal and external communications strategies and initiatives, consistent with strategic goals and objectives.
Oversees the production (i.e., planning, designing, reviewing, and editing) of all MCCS MR publications including the MCCS Annual Report, OSD briefs, Armed Forces Marketing Council briefs, American Logistics Association Briefs, and all other briefs as necessary. Reviews and edits various deliverables before final review by the Deputy Director, Marketing and Innovation, and the Director, MCCS MR approval.
Assists the Chief Marketing Officer in defining annual marketing strategies aligned to organizational priorities. As required and assigned by the CMO, this role supports the team of markets in implementing marketing strategy, ensuring brand integrity, and developing a strategic communication plan to drive engagement between the organization as a brand and our customers.
Supports the Deputy Director of Marketing and Innovation, in the leadership and execution of a proactive, comprehensive, and integrated communications strategy for Directorate programs, products and services to ensure targeted marketing and appropriate coordination with other agencies, and executive level staff entities.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.
May travel to complete work assignments and conduct or attend conferences and meetings. May work a fluctuating work schedule to complete work assignments outside of the typical work week and work hours.
