To qualify for this position at the GS-5 level, you must meet one of the following requirements:
Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-4) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience in performing general clerical duties such as preparing standardized correspondence; answering phone calls; updating calendars and coordinating/scheduling appointments and meetings; entering data into automated systems; using various computer systems and application/software. Applicants should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.

Education: Successfully completed four (4) years of education above the high school level in any field which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. Typically, the person in this position sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts, which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms or libraries. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated.
