Summary

The Program Support Assistant - Connected Health Coordinator position serves as facility champion, leading facility teams to support existing and future Veteran communication initiatives, and coordinates local implementation, training, communications, and outreach of these modalities. The employee will plan, organize drives, direct, evaluate, and report local Connected Health-related actions/activities.

Duties

TIME LIMITED POSITION: This is a time-limited position, not-to-exceed 1 year from the date of appointment.

Major duties include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the facility successfully meets all nationally mandated goals for the Connected Health Program.
  • Monitor goals/activity status for the local My HealtheVet (MHV) program.
  • Manage communication plans that identify target audiences, appropriate messages, activities, and resources needed for effective communication.
  • Assist in the development of documentation of MHV internal and control policies and procedures.
  • Collect data to assist management with MHV operational decisions.
  • Ensure initial and follow-up training/education for staff, patients, and Veteran Service Organizations.
  • Identify significant changes in the way employees will integrate Connected Health programs into the fabric of VA care and the Patient Aligned Care Team.
  • Manage multiple projects by planning and organizing activities for all Connected Health modalities.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to all levels of the medical center/health care system, service organizations, and veterans, family members, and caregivers.
  • Assist in the development of multimedia campaign materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: organizing and communicating ideas and thoughts effectively through written correspondence and/or oral presentation; utilizing automated data processing applications; analyzing a variety of research reports, studies, fact sheets or other documents; and using interpersonal communication skills to deal with customers and/or coworkers who may be difficult, distressed, or negotiating.

There is no educational substitution for the GS-07 level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Physical Requirements: Work is primarily sedentary, but may require periods of standing during presentations, briefings, speeches, health fair activities, etc., although some slight physical effort may be required.

Work Environment: Work is performed in an office setting with adequate lighted and climate-controlled office. May require occasional travel. Outreach presentations may occur outside the facility at community, non-federal governmental agencies, educational and veteran organizations and so forth. These venues may be noisy and crowded.

It is a requirement that all HCP to receive annual seasonal influenza vaccination or obtain an exemption for medical or religious reasons. Wearing a face mask is required when an exemption to the influenza vaccination has been granted. HCP in violation of this directive may face disciplinary action up to and including removal from federal service. HCP are individuals who, during the influenza season, work in VHA locations or who come into contact with VA patients or other HCP as part of their duties. VHA locations include, but are not limited to, VA hospitals and associated clinics, community living centers (CLCs), community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs), domiciliary units, Vet centers and VA-leased medical facilities.
