Applicants must have one year of specialized experience or additional education as defined below:
GS-05: To qualify at the GS-05 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 in Federal service OR one year of progressively higher-level graduate education in a field related to the work of the position.
Specialized Experience Perform standard clerical assignments and resolving recurring problems. Maintain inventory records and replenishing supplies. Perform recordkeeping, reporting, and informational duties. Apply knowledge of the organization's security procedures, processes, and rules. Receive, route, and handle incoming and outgoing mail and correspondence. Enter information into established databases or logs. Document and transcribe concise meeting minutes for service unit meetings. Perform a wide variety of administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting the work of the organization. Use computer work processing, database programs, and other computer software to enter, store, retrieve and print information and prepare correspondence, reports, and other written documents.

Successfully completed 4 years of education beyond the high school level.
OR
Have a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-05 grade level. Must submit transcripts.
GS-06: To qualify at the GS-06 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 in Federal service OR one year of progressively higher-level graduate education in a field related to the work of the position.
Specialized Experience: Compile data/reports. Prepare for administrative meetings. Collect data for specific monitoring activities. Receive messages and inquiries. Make travel arrangements, training, and request travel orders. Receive visitors and incoming calls, ascertains nature of business, and determine appropriate course of action. Mange appointment and meetings. Receive and track incoming requests for controlled correspondence. Edit documents, power point presentations and reports. Ensure documents conform to the guidelines of the organization. Act as point of contact for incoming and outgoing request for information. Enter, store, retrieve and print information and prepare correspondence, reports, and other written documents. Coordinate and provide assistance on employee background processes. Coordinate personnel related documents regarding recruitment and appointment documents.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
