Specialized Experienceis experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service.
To qualify for this position at the
GS-13 level, you must possess at least one (1) year of
Specialized Experience equivalent to the
GS-12 grade level.
Specialized Experience is defined as experience(1) Assisting with planning, coordinating, and managing a wide variety of special events and strategic engagements involving high-ranking organizational leaders and VIPs; (2) Utilizing knowledge of protocol systems and event planning technology; AND, (3) Utilizing oral and written communication skills to explain technical issues of protocol to an organization's internal and external stakeholders.
To qualify for this position at the
GS-14 level, you must possess at least one (1) year of
Specialized Experience equivalent to the
GS-13 grade level.
Specialized Experience is defined as experience(1) Utilizing project management techniques and tools to plan, coordinate, and manage all aspects of complex protocol projects and activities; (2) Developing and refining protocol-related processes and procedures for an organization; AND, (3) Applying new approaches to plan, coordinate, and manage a wide variety of special events and strategic engagements involving high-ranking organizational leaders and VIPs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
