The Academy’s Provost serves with considerable autonomy in carrying out the education mission of the Academy and directing the day-to-day operation for the academic program, to include supervising the academic department heads and office chiefs. The Provost reports directly to the Academy’s Superintendent.
The Provost is responsible for the development of top-quality scholastic programs which encourage and promote the intellectual and professional growth and physical well-being of midshipmen. The Provost will have a profound impact on the Academy's ability to educate and train the country's finest young men and women to be highly qualified licensed merchant marine officers and commissioned officers in the armed forces.
OTHER DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: May have experience in a military sea service at any rank, have attained a Coast Guard merchant mariner license, and/or have led an educational organization or served as a senior leader in the Armed Forces, merchant marine, or a government agency or other complex organization. May hold a terminal degree in a field relevant to the Academy’s mission or curriculum.
