Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience for GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes experience acquiring equipment, supplies, items, and services using small purchases, delivery orders, purchase orders, contracts, and/or blanket purchase agreements; (2) experience determining the appropriate procedures to use to obtain goods and services to meet basic requirements; and (3) experience using Financial management systems, performing developmental assignments under closer than normal supervision and monitoring. Assignments become progressively more difficult until the next performance level is reached. The instructions are more detailed with the supervisor or higher graded employee providing assistance on difficult and unusual problems. Work is reviewed in progress for assurance of effectiveness and conformance with policy and regulatory guidance. Work assignments involve many different processes and methods in which the incumbent must select and apply established techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
