Experience
General Experience (for GS-5 and above positions): Experience in fields such as quality control, quality inspection, contracting and purchasing, supply and storage, industrial or production planning, research and engineering, maintenance, and test and evaluation that provided (1) familiarity with quality assurance or related work, (2) pertinent product or process knowledge and skill, (3) ability to interpret and apply contract requirements and engineering specifications, and (4) skill in dealing with others in person-to-person work relationships.

You may qualify at the GS 12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS - 11 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability in: conducting statistical/quality data analyses, testing and sampling in order to evaluate conformance to contractual quality requirements; 2) planning and conducting quality review investigations to assess deficiencies in contract performance; and 3) determining assignable causes of problems and/or delays in projects or contract schedules and making recommendations for corrective actions.
You may qualify at the GS 11 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS - 09 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability in: reviewing contractual procedures, processes and/or work instructions to identify inadequacies and recommend corrective action; and 2) reading and interpreting technical data such as blueprints, engineering drawings, product specifications, or technical manuals.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
