Duties

Worksite Availability: This position will require you to work a minimum of 3 days a week and at least 4 hours per day.  Shifts include early mornings, evenings, holidays, and weekends.  If you cannot work at least 3 days a week to include working on the weekend, some morning shifts, some evening shifts, and holidays, please do not apply.

Summary of Duties: This position reports to the Miramar Memorial Golf Course Manager and is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to authorized patrons.  Ensure that all arriving guests are properly greeted, questions are answered, and clear professional instructions/directions are given that exceed the expectations of our guests.  Employee will answer phone and in-person questions regarding general golf course procedures, hours of operation, and policies and procedures.  

Creates a favorable first impression focused on enhancing the customers¿ satisfaction and overall experience while golfing at our facility.  Responsible for removing litter, dust, and debris from work areas, starter area, and storage barn.  Cleans golf cart storage areas and the golf cart fleet. Ensures carts are properly accounted for, cleaned/washed prior to storing, staged for the next day activities, plugged in and charging, and in operational condition. Promptly communicates issues or problems via chain of command if carts are not in an operational condition or need maintenance.

Driving Range duties consist of collecting range balls, cleaning balls, and keeping range ball dispenser full.  Maintain golf putting practice areas so they are set-up and continually supplied with range balls, and other necessary items.  May assist in maintaining routine custodial and/or general maintenance duties as needed.

Golf Pro Shop duties include performing routine clerical and cashier work.  Registers players, collects fees, assist in pairing golf players, assigns golf carts, and answers customer inquiries.  Assists with recording tee time information and assists patrons off first tee. Operates the cash register and receives payments.  Professionally communicates and enforces golf course rules, safety procedures, regulations, and policies.

Due to fluctuating demands of the golf course operation, it may be necessary for the incumbent to perform several different functions within the department or work at other Semper Fit activities as business needs dictate.  Collateral Semper Fit work locations include but are not limited to the; 50M Pool, Party/Adventure Recreational Center (PARC), Bob Hope Theater, Gyms, etc.  Cross training will be provided accordingly.  Hours for this position vary and each work location will have various shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays.  Shift differential pay will be appropriately applied.  

Provides exceptional customer service, and upholds high service standards using respect, courtesy, professionalism, and teamwork.  Takes initiative to solve problems quickly but recognizes when to seek assistance to resolve issues.  Collaborates in a professional, supportive, and proactive manner. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of services provided.

Adheres to safety regulations and standards.  Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.  Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Physical Effort: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, walk, read, hear, talk, balance, climb, use hands, use fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, smell, push or pull. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to walk on narrow uneven surfaces, and wet slippery areas.  Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45 lbs. independently and objects over 45 lbs. with assistance.

Working Conditions: Days and hours of work vary based on business needs.  Work is performed inside and outside.  Incumbent is subject to discomfort from long periods in the hot sun, and chilly or rainy weather.  Exposed to dirt, dust, and grass. May be required to wear protective clothing.  Wildlife such as deer, coyotes, snakes, rodents, and insects pose risks.  Potential risk of being struck by errant golf balls.  

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Worksite professionalism that prioritizes exceptional customer service and guests first impressions as the most important task of the day.  High school diploma or G.E.D and valid state driver¿s license required.  Minimum one (1) year work experience in the golf industry.  Participation in a high school or college golf team may be substituted for work experience.  Must have knowledge about the golf game, golf equipment, golf etiquette, and golf rules. Basic computer, cash register comprehension, and knowledge of basic mathematics required. Ability to communicate efficiently orally and in writing.

This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.
