Duties

The incumbent is assigned to the Big Bear Recreation Facility and assists patrons in various areas within the facility.  Incumbent will work indoors and outdoors and will be exposed to dirt, dust, summer heat, winter snow, and rain/chilly weather.

Provides oversight of activities and services to authorized patrons, including general information about the Big Bear Lake, CA area. Provides information concerning facilities and operation. Ensures adherence to regulations and safety procedures. Monitors and checks the security of premises. Shovels snow, operates snow blowers, plow truck and/or tractor. Operates 4x4 utility vehicle as necessary to service the property and cabins.

Provides housekeeping services to cabins and lodge to include performing laundry related tasks such as washing of dirty linens and terry, and folding of clean laundry, maintenance of campgrounds and RV parking areas, and performs clerical, custodial and/or general maintenance duties as needed. Operates a cash register, receives payment and makes change. Conducts inventory of supplies and makes recommendations for purchase.

Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Directs patrons to proper subject matter experts when assistance is needed that is out of their scope of practice. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisors, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.

Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required. 
  • Six months of experience in similar year round recreational operation/facility is preferred.  
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification is preferred but not required. 
  • Must be able to learn and implement policies, rules, and regulations involving the area. Must be able to communicate efficiently orally and in writing.  
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematics, operate a personal computer, and operate a cash register. 
  • This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance.  
  • Ability to work varied shifts, such as mid-days, nights, and weekends.

Required Documents to be considered for Military Spousal Preference:
Military Spousal Preference may be requested for positions NF-3 and below, Crafts and Trades (NA, NL, NS), and Child & Youth (CY) positions. 
    1. Spouses must meet the minimum qualifications posted in the job announcement. 
    2. Spousal Preference eligibility begins 30 days before the military sponsor's reporting date to the new duty location. 
    3. Spousal Preference applicants hired in a flexible position will not lose their spousal preference eligibility until converted or hired into a regular full-time or part-time position or is within a 60-day period of receiving new PCS Orders. 
    4. Spousal Preference applicants must provide a copy of the PCS order identifying a spouse's authorized move and the sponsor's reporting date to the new duty location.  If the spouse is not listed on the PCS orders, the spouse must provide documentation (i.e. marriage certificate, valid military ID, etc) verifying marriage prior to PCS orders (must have been married to the military sponsor before relocation to the new duty station). 
    5. Spouses with current or prior Federal service, submit a copy of the most receive performance appraisal rating.
